VIEW ROYAL

The VREB district of View Royal corresponds to the municipal Town of View Royal.

View Royal is centred between the Core and the West Shore regions. It is an ideal place to live if you want to be able to visit or work in these other regions. There is a large amount of beautiful waterfront surrounding the region. Although many homes have existed in the area for as long as the rest of downtown Victoria, there has been a major jump in new construction which is still continuing. The Victoria General Hospital is a major employer in the area. A small shopping centre has built up near the hospital and the other shopping is mostly along the Old Island Highway. The Elements Casino is the only one in the Greater Victoria area. In addition, View Royal has a thriving home-based business sector.

There are extensive parks in the municipality, including the bulk of the vast Thetis Lake Park. The parks include natural areas as well as cultivated areas and sports fields. The West Shore Parks and Recreation Centre is a vast facility that includes a swimming pool, arena, curling rink and others. The connecting lower section offers more recreation opportunities such as the Juan de Fuca Golf Course, playing fields and the Velodrome Cycling Track. One stop has it all. The regional Galloping Goose Trail and the E&N Rail Trail cross the municipality.
